These ballet flats use a mesh upper instead of a solid one, which is the whole reason they work in summer. The mesh lets air through where leather would hold heat, and it gives a little across the widest part of the foot rather than pressing on it. The shape is a classic ballet flat: low, rounded and easy to step into, so they go with a dress as readily as with cropped trousers. Black is the one that disappears into everything; red is the one people notice.
